UPVC Replacement Door Handles

The handles on your doors wear out over time and will need to be replaced. In this case, it is important that the new handles are in line with the critical dimensions of the previous handle.

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever door handle is a modern handle that can be installed on new or replacement doors. This style door handle is offered in a wide range of styles & finishes. A number of manufacturers offer this type of handle, including Avocet ERA, Fullex, Hoppe, Mila, Millenco & Yale.

The uPVC/Composite handles are made from durable materials, and are perfect for doors with multiple points that need a heavy-duty design. The handles are inline and work from the same spindle and screw fixings so they can be easily fitted to new or existing uPVC/Composite doors.

The handle can be adjusted and angled to accommodate all users. The handle has been tested for endurance up to 200,000 cycles, this will ensure the quality of the finish as well as the performance of the handle over time. The sprung lever is also adjustable to accommodate a wide range of locks. This is particularly beneficial for narrower door frames where the cylinder is further back. A lever that is shorter is an ideal choice for doors where the latch can be operated by a thumb turn inside.

Lever Pad

The lever pad upvc handle is distinct from the lever handles that are found on most doors. The handle can use a single spindle (inline) or independently from each side using two offset or inline spindles (pad). They are generally employed on UPVC double-glazed doors and come in many variations & styles.

The handles have been tested to at least 200k cycles and are available in several finishes, including White, Silver, Chrome & Gold. The finish meets BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 and is also resistant to corrosion, which gives the handle a high degree of durability and performance for the intended use.

All UPVC levers for handles come with a spindle, screws, and can be fitted on the uPVC door. The backplate fixation centers of 211mm permit a larger handle, which is typically beneficial when replacing an old or faulty multi-point door lock mechanism. These handle levers have springs, which can solve the problem of door handles that sag out of the horizontal position when not in use.

Cylinder locks are usually found on uPVC doors, but they can also be used on other types of doors. They operate by using a key that unlock a cylinder that will reveal pins that can be aligned with those in the lock body, allow them to rotate the cam, thereby opening the door. Euro Cylinders are available with up to six pins. Internal and external doors require different levels of security.

The choice of cylinder you choose is essential. It's dependent on the use that your doors and handles will receive. For example, external doors should be fitted with an extra secure cylinder, whilst internal doors can be secured using the standard cylinder. Certain cylinders come with extra features that can increase security, for instance, anti-drill or anti-bump properties.

To ensure that the euro cylinder is the right size for your door, it must be measured accurately. The cylinder needs to be measured from the central screw hole to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn, in the event that one is present. It is recommended to do this with the sash lock door handles in place however in the event that this is not possible, you may remove it to take measurements. A cylinder that extends beyond the handle and escutcheon could be vulnerable to attacks, such as lock snapping, so it is important that it's not too long.

The design of many modern cylinders has anti-drilling and bump resistance features. They are designed to decrease attack chances by forcing the cylinders to turn in a new direction. This can help to deflect attacks tilt and turn window handles protect your door.
